How Magnetic Poetry Began
Magnetic Poetry began with a sneeze and went out into the world with a bang—creator Dave Kapell was suffering from a bout of writer’s block and severe allergies. He sat down with words written on slips of paper, arranging them on the floor; however, every time he sneezed a blizzard of paper whirled around the room. Frustrated, Dave glued the papers to individual magnets and stuck them on a pizza tin, eventually moving them to his fridge. He noticed every time friends came over they would shift the words around, exploring different combinations and making the first magnetic poems.
